We love giving back

Helping our community is one of our top priorities as a credit union. We love giving back, getting involved, and partnering up with local charities and fundraising efforts. On this page, we’ll tell you about our Jeans Because We Care program. We’ll also let you know how your organization can request a donation from SIU Credit Union.

What is Blue Jeans Day?

Every Friday, our staff has the option to wear jeans for a $2 donation that goes directly back to our local communities.

In 2017, we raised nearly $7,000 with our jeans day donations for the Gum Drops NFP and the This Able Veteran.

We proudly wear our jeans because our casual Fridays make a real difference!

Request a Donation

At SIU Credit Union, we frequently donate and volunteer for a variety of charities and organizations. After all, we’re in the business of people helping people. Because of this, we are open to donation requests.

Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we are unable to guarantee funding or volunteers for every request. The following guidelines must be followed in order to be considered for a donation or sponsorship.

How to submit a donation request?

Donations will be made to groups or individuals that are helping others.
We are unable to approve donation requests from individuals for self-serving purposes. However, we do support non-profit organizations that assist people in these situations. (i.e. Salvation Army, food pantries, etc.)
The number of people who will benefit and be made aware of the donation will be taken into consideration.
Although not mandatory, one deciding factor is whether the group or individual requesting a donation is a member of SIU Credit Union.
SIU Credit Union will consider any advertising or acknowledgement of our donation or sponsorship.
Groups or individuals seeking a donation must fill out a Donation Request Application.

1. All Donation Request Applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis. To ensure your request is processed in a timely fashion, please allow 45 days notice.

2. Requests must be submitted in writing, accompanied by a SIU Credit Union Donation Request Application and mailed, faxed or emailed to:

Organizations or individuals will be notified if they will receive a monetary donation from SIU Credit Union, either by phone or mail. A decision to deny a request does not imply that the applicant’s program is not needed or worthy, but simply that it does not fall within our giving guidelines, priorities, or that funds are not available.

Please note that SIU Credit Union will typically only grant two donation requests per year to the same organization. We are also unable to contribute to political campaigns.
